Our Aubrey is and I have so many thoughts running through my mind.. Firstly I am in disbelief that she is nearly 5 and about to start a massive life journey through primary and high school. She'll likely spend the next 11-16 years of her life in some form of education system and it blows my mind that it all starts NOW.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
So many mixed feelings. I am so excited for her, I know she is going to LOVE it - and I will too, having some more flexibility to work, but I am also terrified. I have so much wonder about where life will take her, about what she will choose for her journey, how school will influence her personality, yet I am terrified that the mainstream schooling system will lock her in a box and limit her free thinking and her beautiful, creative and strong willed mind. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

I think it is true as a parent that you want to have all of this control over your child when they're little, you want to protect and guide them into a path you think is right for them - Which you can to a degree, but I think a scary part of it all is knowing in some ways you have to let go and allow them to create their own story, write their own path.. I am so excited to see how this year goes for Aubrey - How are you feeling about your little ones starting their journey?!

I absolutely love making our sessions play based around kids so they have time to suss me out, open up and show their true personalities and real smiles. Sometimes it just takes a little time - but it is so worth it!

I met Nicole and Ricky at the @Bellybabybeyond parenting fair! At the fair, they won one of my minor prizes and had bubba Nixon photographed as a newborn baby and then they freakishly won a full session with me at the next BBB!!! Lucky ducks! ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

Nicole and I get along so well and she's one of my biggest supporters... Our styles align, we share a love for Jamie Kay and all the beautiful baby brands and we are now stocking her BEAUTIFUL macrame baby teethers in store! Call me a freak, but being a business owner is the best thing I have ever done for myself. It's broadened opportunities, given me a sense of purpose and has made me LOVE Monday's! I LOVE the feeling of a new week, new goals. It is like a mini new year each week! ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

I'm back to banging on about the details again... but HONESTLY - How adorable are these shoes?!

I had a conversation with someone the other day who was shocked to find out that I get someone ELSE to photograph my family.. I think it is a general assumption that if you're a photographer, you must have a million photos of your family and that you don't have to pay someone else to take photos for you.. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Well, its a myth! Firstly, as you ALL know by now, my kids are allergic to me taking any remotely decent photos of them and really @Brianna.nguyen.photographer is the only person who can manage to photograph my kids in their element and capture their beautiful and quirky personalities.. but also, for me to practice what I preach, it is so super important for me to be in the photograph with my kids, not just the one taking the photo! We have chosen Bri to take our photos for the last few years because I really believe it is important to build up a rapport with your photographer so you're getting the best value out of the photos being taken. Once your kids warm up to a photographer, it's like they kind of become part of the family.. they get excited for sessions, they WANT to be photographed. It adds a whole new level of comfort, familiarity and depth to the personalities that are being captured. It is why I LOVE seeing you all come back to me to update your pictures. Often the kids remember me and are so excited about your session. It just makes everything so much better! It allows me to capture the real them, they open up to me and allow me to see what you see and the photos.. well they're just perfection! A true reflection of THEM..

We update our family pictures at least once every 12 months and when we have a fresh baby, we document the maternity, newborn, 6 month and 12 month milestones! So I get it... The first few years of your babes life can be expensive AF when it comes to photography.. but they're only little for so long, and I'm yet to find out.. but I imagine they don't look at you like this forever...
